What is the industry doing now and in the future?

Image
What is the industry doing now and in the future? 💭 Joseph Barbera, Hayao Miyazaki, Butch Hartman, Dan Povenmire, Chris Sanders. What do these five names have in common. Answer, all of them are well known storyboard artists that aided or even created leading shows like Tom and Jerry, Spirited Away, Fairly Odd parents, Phineas and Ferb and How to train your dragon. Likewise, they have all effectively mastered the art of visual storytelling to grasp their audience and leave an impression on society.      Which brings us to this week's question: 🌟 What is the state and future of your specializations industry and how do you aim to enter it?   If the intro hasn't given it away I plan to specialize in becoming a story artist, one that works in both storyboarding and animatics.   Storyboard artists work in the pre-production section of the animation industry. They tend to work in house with other artists including the director to create a visual and engaging represen...

My role on the production🎥🖉

My role on the production🎥🖉 Over the course of the past few weeks, I have explored the different ways commercial walking simulators entertain, communicate and market their audience as well as how I could use these techniques within my project. Well, today I will be rounding up with my last blog discussing more about my own project.   My last question is: 🌟  What are you producing in your environmental storytelling project and how will your work enhance the final project as well as your Spec work and how you will improve your techniques.   My initial role in my environmental storytelling project is to work on crafting the storyboards and drawing one of the backgrounds for the project. However, I also worked a lot on managing and working in unreal such as blocking out the layout and sourcing and adding in the assets. So far, I have produced story beats, storyboards, a synopsis and beat by beat breakdown, block out, asset implementation and a drawn b...

Why does your project exist?

Image
Why does your project exist? Throughout history the purpose and use of media has shifted rapidly. Whether it's used for educating, raising awareness, entertaining or testing out a new technology and style.   Everything in media has a purpose.   So, here's this week's questions:   🌟Why does your project exist and what do you want to say to your audience?   🌟How does your project concept fit into the larger media landscape of similar projects and why will your project stand out/be relevant etc?   There's a lot to unpack here but let's start with how my project came to be. To begin we were assigned with the task of creating a walking simulator of sorts in a way that tells a story through its environment and creative choices. As the main aspect is storytelling, we wanted to have a clear sense of an exposition, rising action, climax and resolution. We also wanted a clear theme and message that was in some way relatable to our audience. Likewise, after variou...

Audience Attention

Image
Audience Attention 👪 Let's start with some questions. What makes up your favourite film? What is it that gets you excited to play your favourite game or visit your favourite stores?  Do you see any patterns?   Despite what your answer is you are part of a target audience.  Let's admit it most products are only as successful as their audience. These audiences are the driving force of what a product is or could be as without an audience there's nobody to sell to. So then, how do we get these so-called audience's attention? Well, typically features like genre, purpose, storytelling, or aesthetics has a role to play. However, there are an abundant more building blocks used to capture an audience.  This leads me to the question of the week: 🌟 Investigation the audience of a currently available commercial project similar to yours and outline how they've captured the attention of their audience and how you can apply similar techniques in your ...

Simulator Success

Walking simulators come in many shapes and sizes. Whether it's a story of mystery and heartbreak, a tale of horrors and suspicion or a leisurely stroll through a mesmerising scene. Though they have limited action and haven't exactly been considered the apex of gaming history you'll still be surprised by their success within these modern times.   Likewise, according to the Wire’s article, The Joy of Walking in games. "People turned to video games in droves during the pandemic, and game companies recorded record profits. The philosopher and theologian Saint Augustine coined the Latin phrase “ Solvitur ambulando ,” meaning “It is solved by walking,” and walking—albeit virtually, is where I turned to steady my mind " (Briscoe, 2021).   So then here's the question of the week: ⭐ How would I take my project and make it into a marketable and successful product in the wider media environment?   Well to get to the bottom of this I'll have to address the throbbing ...
